Celebrate all you’ve achieved
From the desk of Werner le Roux
Managing Director @ FLUX
|
Whether you are winding down, battling year-end deadlines or breaking records in your last minute dash to the holiday finishing line, this is typically a time for reflection and celebration. At FLUX we are not quite in party mode yet as screens and desks are piled with projects - but hey, in this really challenging business year we are delighted to have had a steady stream of work from existing and new clients. Thank you for entrusting your electronic essentials to FLUX - we are honoured to have had the privilege of partnering with you and we look forward to developing and deepening our working relationships in the years ahead.
Great cause for celebration is the official announcement that the recession is over. Yay! That is the best year-end gift anyone could wish for. So although holiday budgets may be tighter than usual, there is still plenty to celebrate. This year we can avoid the commercial pitfalls and pressure to splurge and focus on what is really important. We can choose to spend quality time with those who enrich and enhance our lives and delight in the simple pleasures which we so often take for granted. Every day we have an abundance of blessings which are cause for gratitude and in difficult times their value comes into sharp focus.
Perhaps the best bash will be on New Year’s Day, when we can close the chapter on 2009 and be thankful that we survived the challenges, grew through the experiences and emerged stronger. Then we can look ahead with enthusiasm to all that 2010 has in store for us.
The FLUX offices will close on Friday 18 December 2009 and reopen on Monday 4 January 2010. For clients who have work they require before year- end, please notify your project manager today so that your needs can be noted. During the festive season, our support line is available to action any emergencies. For assistance while we are closed, please call +27 (0) 82 557 2283 and not your usual FLUX contact because they will be chilled out in time-out mode.
This is our last newsletter for 2009, so on behalf of the FLUX team it is my pleasure to wish you a happy holiday filled with meaningful and valued friendships, joy, delight and blessings. Please travel safely, party prudently and be responsible as you refresh and recharge yourselves.
So until we meet again in 2010 - cheers!

There’s more to potatoes than meets the eye
|
FLUX, web partner for Potatoes South Africa for more than five years, has launched a revamped and upgraded website, creating a dynamic presence packed with goodness reflecting a passion for potatoes!
Dr Ben J Pieterse, Manager: Research and Development, said: “Potatoes South Africa (PSA) decided to upgrade its website to bring it in line with the new vision of the organisation. FLUX as our service provider did a very professional job on developing a new website. The website was presented for the first time at the National Congress of Potatoes South Africa in Bloemfontein and then to the Board of Directors of PSA. On both occasions it was met with very positive comments and everybody is eager to start surfing the website.” Read more

New sights and sounds on GIBS’ website
|
The website for The University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) has been upgraded and all functionality has migrated to the FLUX WebEasy.NET platform.
Sue Swart, GIBS marketing director, said: “The new website is benchmarked against global best practices in terms of design and functionality and has been re-launched to facilitate our digital marketing strategy. We are committed to pursuing the Web2.0 and social networking opportunities and will continue to offer more value on our website.”
FLUX project manager, Tamsyn Kent, says: “Using the .NET application, FLUX customised products and features for GIBS’ requirements, most notable of which the public registration facility. Previously website visitors had to apply for each event separately, but now, registered users can apply for a course or event much quicker. Anyone who has attended a previous event need not re-enter their information for subsequent registrations because input details are now stored confidentially in a secure environment for future use. For busy people the tedious task of re-entering details has been eliminated. All they have to do is log in with their username and password but they have the option of accessing the ‘update profile link’ to update details at any time.“ Read more

Fabulous FLUX Fishnet Fairies
|
As part of our social responsibility initiatives FLUX sisters donned fashion items and funky shoes to participate in the annual Sisters with Blisters walk to raise awareness of women and child abuse.
Philippa Eady, FLUX Business Development Director and idea instigator, rounded up Jorike Langerman, Adele Visser, Felicity Mokoena, Bongi Hlubi, Linda Lange and Ona Loots to walk the 4km as a practical demonstration of their support of this most worthy cause. With typical FLUX flair and creativity, they branded themselves with an alliteration of F-words (not some of the other famous ones!) and with their eye-catching banner held aloft, they were a show stopping spectacle.
The fairies, with second generation FLUXers - children Megan and Bianca, were featured on both TV and radio, so besides taking a stand (or a step) for no violence, they had their moments of glory too.
Philippa says: “Thanks to FLUX who sponsored our entries and apologies to the guys - next year we’ll invite you to join the fun too. Participating was fabulous fun and a valuable bonding experience. It was amazing being with so many people who had dressed up and turned out to walk. Although we started in boots and high heels, we soon replaced them with more functional tekkies – but at the finishing line all the sisters had blisters – we had earned them!”
